Ancient Coins: ROMAN IMPERIAL SILVER: Tranquillina, wife of Gordian III, c.241 A.D.
AR Antoninianus, 3.64g. 23mm. SABINA TRANQVILLINA AVG. Diademed and draped bust of Tranquillina to right on a crescent. Rv. CONCORDIA AVGG. Gordian and Tranquillina clasping hands. RIC IV/3, 250 (obverse die). Superb style and strike on a huge flan and with attractive toning; very rare and one of the finest extant examples.
