AR Denarius, 3.84g. 19x21 mm.   Rome, 17 B.C.  magistrate: M Sanquinius.   M SANQVINIVS III VIR.   Laureate head of the deified Julius Caesar to right; comet above.  Rev. AVGVSTVS DIVI F LVDOS SAE.  Herald of the Saecular games standing to right; he wears a long robe and a feathered helmet;  he holds a winged caduceus and a shield ornamented with a star.  RIC 340.  BMC 70.  minute ancient banker's marks in field.  Fine toning and excellent strike.
