AR Tetradrachm, 17.17g. 26mm. Salamis mint, c.300-295 B.C. Nike alightlng on the prow of a defeated galley of Ptolemy and blowing a trumpet. Rev. Poseidon hurling trident to left; monograms in fields to left and below. Newell 23(this coin listed). Lovely old cabinet toning. This is of the finest style and with a stellar pedigree. This is an early issue from Salamis near where the referenced naval engagement was fought and very different from the common later ordinary style issues from Pella and Amphipolis.
