AR Tetradrachm, 16.92g. 31 mm. Diademed head of Philetairos to right Rv. Athena seated to left holding wreath and spear; bow in field to right; ivy leaf and A in field to left. Westermark V. LIII/R I. SNG France 1610. This is the finest and most dramatic of the Philetairos portrait styles. Toned, struck in very high relief, and with exceptional surfaces for this normally heavily marred type. Provenance/Pedigree: Extremely Fine $5,000. |
