Head of young Horus of Mount Kasion-Zeus Kasios to right wearing diadem and hem-hem crown.  Köln 3418.  Dattari 6346. RPC online III 6532.40(this coin).  Emmett 1231.11.  Dark brown patina with some encrustation on the obverse.   This coin is among the finest known examples and the one that is used for the primary RPC on-line illustration.

Shallow metal fault and some encrustation on rev.   Rare issue from the first months of Hadrian's reign.

AR Denarius, 3.20g. 18mm. Rome, 130-138 A.D. HADRIANVS AVG COS III P P. Laureate head of Hadrian to right. Rev. RESTITVTORI GALLIAE. Hadrian on left wearing toga and extending his hand to the kneeling Gallia. RIC II.3 1573v. BMC 880v. Exceptional quality for this scarce issue and with a particularly clear head of Hadrian on the reverse which is struck in high relief. Normally the emperor holds a small scroll in his left hand, but that is not shown on this die.
