Pisidia, Sagalassos, Gordian III, 2nd known

AE 36 Large bronze,  28.76g.  Gordian III, 238-244 A.D.   Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Gordian to right.  Rev. Demeter driving biga of winged serpents to right over waves; she holds a long torch.  RPC on-line VII.2, 20406 (this coin illustrated). Dark green and brown patina.  Very rare; only one other considerably inferior example in the Museum of Fine Arts Boston is listed by RPC.

AE 28, 14.47g.  Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Gordian to right.  Rev. Cult figure of Astarte within tetrastyle temple; Posiedon abducting Beroe on pediment; lion below.   SNG COP 123.  Dark green and brown patina.  Exceptional quality.

AR Antoninianus, 3.64g. 23mm. SABINA TRANQVILLINA AVG. Diademed and draped bust of Tranquillina to right on a crescent. Rv. CONCORDIA AVGG. Gordian and Tranquillina clasping hands. RIC IV/3, 250 (obverse die). Superb style and strike on a huge flan and with attractive toning; very rare and one of the finest extant examples.
